But I quickly adjusted and now I love the game and I wouldn't want the controls to be any other way. I've played RE4 for the first time 1 year ago myself, and the controls were a bit weird at first for me as well. I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, but the controls are part of the package, you either take it or play some of the newer REs. You can even go into aim mode to do stuff like turning 90 degrees way faster than pressing left or right. Not to talk about the fact that since you're playing it on PC, just like I did, we already have it easier than the folks that played it on Gamecube back in the day, since you can aim way faster with the mouse, while on the GC there was a fixed speed at which Leon aimed his gun around. all of this only makes sense with the tank controls. The low fov, the slow movement speed of the enemies, their telegraphed attacks. The whole game is balanced around the tank controls.

I still go to RE4 from time to time and it still plays great even with the current control scheme.ītw, I used Xbox 360 Controller but prefer using PS2 controller back in the days because the shoulder button doesn't have resistance so my finger would strain less when trying to stay in aiming mode. The balancing of how the enemies can do stuffs to your character is quite fair considering the limit of movement you get to perform in the game.but you'd be surprise with the stuff you can accomplish with just that. Learning to control RE4 is a game in and of itself i believe and mastering that control can be somewhat satisfying as you move about rapidly controlling the situation with your own strategy and smart movement. Strategy such as aiming for the head so the enemies get dazed and you can perform special move on them when you get closer to them for crit damage or to make them fall to another incoming enemies as a crowd control measure.

With that however, it also reaps the standard benefits of the service, with Steam cloud support for.

It should also be mentioned, that Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition is only available on Steam. I think it's about observing your enemies better and knowing where to run to set up your attack and knowing when to move again when you're surrounded. I personally used the Xbox 360 controller for 98 of my time with the game, but it’s still good to have the option to use a mouse and keyboard. Resident Evil 4 doesn't played like a modern shooter in a such a a way there's no cover mechanic and moving and aiming mechanics can be somewhat awkward. OP, I think it probably has to do with the window of time you start to play the game and the type of games you like to play until today controls in such a way that trying to play RE4 doesn't do it for you.
